The 2nd physical edition of ITE Hong Kong 2022 ended successfully
ITE Hong Kong 2022, the second edition of which has been held physically since the pandemic, was successfully held from August 18 to 21 in Halls 3 of the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Center.
The main theme for this year is Log back in and recover! By providing a platform for different players in the travel industry to reconnect, hopefully ITE will speed up the recovery.
Will likely benefit from the Hong Kong government’s recent announcement to reduce mandatory hotel quarantine from 7 days to 3 days, FIE 2022 was widely covered and well followed by the media, ranging from television, radio to newspapers!
Journalists came not only during the 4 opening days of ITE, but also during our pre-show press conference held the week before and the press preview the day before the opening of ITE. ITE! These certainly help to revive or stimulate interest in travel in society.
The media reported very positive feedback from exhibitors on the last day of ITE! For example, receiving almost 10 times more requests than last year; meeting many serious visitors asking for details, and believing that many in Hong Kong can (afford) and have a strong interest in travel!
ITE is growing and remains very international
Compared to last year, ITE 2022 is not only bigger but also more international! It occupied approximately 5600 m² (+7%) with 107 exhibitors in total (+4%) including 71% from abroad and overseas! There were 32 participating countries and regions, an increase of 78%!
Its first day and a half was only open to registered trade visitors, while on the remaining days and sessions visitors could pay an entry fee to enter. In fact, ITE2022 attracted more visitors, 2,752 (+8.2%) from commerce and businesses and 31,098 (+14.7%) from the public.
Quality confirmed in ITE
The organizer has worked closely with exhibitors and business partners to ensure the effectiveness of ITE as a platform not only to facilitate trade and information sharing, but also to taste the pleasure travel !
More than 20 national, regional and municipal tourist offices from various destinations organized an official pavilion or stand, some of which were attractively designed and set up with, for example, a photo booth and a screen for a zoom meeting or broadcast video.
Special in-company exhibits with a trade association or media include, for example, for MICE the MICE Home Corner; for green and outdoor tourism, the exhibition of the winners of the school photo contest and glamping; and the Cultural Tourism Pavilion with interesting museums and local and continental innovation zones.
In addition, a tea house in the Central District of Hong Kong architecturally reconstructs in its pavilion the elegant culinary and living style of the elite of the early years of the last century.
At the stage were cultural performances, photo shoots with mascots and the award ceremony. More than 70 commercial and public seminars held in specially designed rooms inside the exhibition halls, while there were demonstrations and quizzes on the stands.
Hong Kong outgoing market
Before the pandemic, Hong Kong often ranked as the world’s 11th or 12th source market in terms of spending. Specifically in 2019, the city spent US$26.9 billion on international travel and made, for example, 2.29 million visits to Japan, 1.045 million trips to Thailand, 315,150 trips to Australia and 409,030 trips to the UK.
This year, more Hong Kong residents are traveling overseas as more international destinations stop requiring mandatory quarantine, government statistics show.
The next ITE in 2023
