She-Hulk Trailer Spoils Next Abomination Twist
If anything needs to be said for She-Hulk: Lawyeris that the series isn’t afraid to drop hints with its trailers. While not quite as jaw-dropping as Daredevil’s surprising appearance, new trailers have shown a glimpse into Tim Roth’s Emil Blonsky/Abomination future after his apparent escape (and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings link) in episode 2.
Life doesn’t seem to be getting any easier for Tatiana Maslany’s Jennifer Walters. While she landed a job at another law firm heading up a new division, she was tasked with defending an old enemy – Emil Blonsky – from his cousin Bruce Banner. It was never going to be easy, and now that the gamma-infused giant has been spotted in a Macau fight pit, it’s clear his uphill battle just got a little stiffer.
While it’s unclear exactly how Blonksy escaped and what led him to Macau, some footage from the trailer shows a twist fans can expect from the character in future episodes.
Abomination goes from Supervillain to Life-Coach
In new trailers released by Marvel Entertainment’s Youtube channel, some clips can be seen featuring Blonsky in both his normal human form and his abominable alter-ego.
In one trailer, the Abomination can be seen in all its green glory among a crowd of what appear to be enthusiastic supporters.
The gathered crowd appears to be normal people, presumably fans of the Abomination’s rebranding. They certainly aren’t afraid of the former villain and alleged prison escapee. Maybe there’s more going on than meets the eye?
Reduced to his human form, Blonsky can be seen among what appear to be other superhumans. Around him are signs and motivational quotes indicating that he has become something of a guru in his post-The Incredible Hulk break time.
Interestingly, it looks like Titania and the Wrecking Crew are arriving on the scene. Fallen chairs and trash on the floor may indicate they’re crashing the show, much like Titania did with Jennifer’s trial in the first episode.
What’s next for the Abomination?
Although the ending of Episode 2 ends on what seemed like a rather negative turn for Jen, her giant size issue may resolve itself fairly quickly. The signs and slogans seen around Blonsky in the trailers seem to coincide with the new breath of life he claimed to have while talking to Jen in prison. Did he really go straight?
While Blonsky’s sudden turnaround might be a little too abrupt to believe wholeheartedly at the moment, it appears to have worked in his favor when it comes to his parole being granted. Although the media portrayal seemed overwhelming, audiences know that Wong, the Sorcerer Supreme, has a hand in bringing Blonsky to that Macau fight pit.
A solid working theory that brings it all together is that Wong is working to provide Blonsky with a way to channel his anger and aggression, giving him more control over his Abomination form. The fighting pits are a good outlet for his ferocity, while old-fashioned mindfulness and meditation help him stay calm while he waits. If that’s true, maybe he really turned over a new leaf.
Blonsky’s appearance on television and the resulting media attention may initially trigger panic, but after news of the Sorcerer Supreme’s intervention breaks out, perhaps it could become good publicity demonstrating his control over his other side. This, in turn, could cause Blonsky to take the life guru path for some attention and maybe just help a few people along the way.
It has long been theorized that the Abomination could play a role in a possible Love at first sight cast, and while the film is confirmed for development, the lineup of the team remains a mystery.
Perhaps the revitalized public image of the former monster will help sell the concept of a team made up of people with checkered pasts. If John Walker of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier was really the first recruit for the Thunderbolts, so it stands to reason that the rest of the team could be filled with characters like Abomination, Ghost, and Taskmaster who might also be looking for redemption.
These are just theories, but the wait for the truth shouldn’t be long. Fans need to relax, take a deep breath and say “Abomaste” until the next episode of She-Hulk: Lawyer arrives on Disney+ on Thursday, September 1.
